We are going to run short a few glues sticks this year. If anyone would be willing to pick up a few I would really appreciate the donation. WE DO NOT NEED A LOT!!
All Kindergarteners and suppose to read at a DRA level 3 by the end of the school year. All of the kids have made great gains, but some are not a t a 3. A few things you can do at home to help them achieve this goal is review the sight words that I have sent home. If you would like another copy please send me a note or e-mail. Also read every night!! Look at the pictures in the books, discuss what you see, make predictions about what is going to happen. This will help your children tremendously.
Reading: We are working on retelling a story and including all of the main ideas and important details.
Writing: We are starting to write “How –to “ books. The kids will describe the steps you take to complete a task.
Phonics: you got another Words Their Way practice sheet in their folder today. Some of the kids have been gluing them down and bringing them into show me. I have been letting the kids that do this flip their behavior cards to Cromie blue. You do not need to do this, but if you would like to the kids are enjoying the “homework”.
Math: We are comparing measurable attributes. Length, width, weight. We are also identifying things that are not measurable like color, beauty, etc.
