Welcome to our classroom website!
Welcome to Kindergarten!!! We have 23 kids in our classroom. Our Specials Schedule Monday: Gym Tuesday: Music and STEM Wednesday: Book Buddies and Computers Thursday: Media Friday: Art REMIND 101 text @kec4f to 81010 to receive reminders from by through text message Please wear or send gym shoes every Monday. Library We are going to the library as a class on Thursday afternoons. The students will each get to check out a book and if they return it the next week they are able to check out another. They are responsible for the book they checkout. If it is lost or damaged you may be asked to pay for the replacement. To order books through Scholastic online please use the order code PDPPF Parent Guide What’s for LUNCH??? Lunch at school will be a new experience for some of you. To help us be accurate and help your child adjust as easily as possible, we need your help! Every Friday, “lunch tickets” will be placed in your child’s folder. Place them somewhere safe as you will need them every day! These tickets will ask for VERY SPECIFIC information. Fill out the ticket completely, place it in the daily folder and we’ll take care of the rest—THAT’S IT! Simple and sweet! A sample ticket has been provided below. Lunch will begin tomorrow so be sure to fill it out accordingly as we truly want our first experiences in the lunch room to be positive!! Some things to note: **If you receive free and reduced lunch all you need to do is mark pre-paid. **Money sent in should be attached (a Ziploc or an envelope is a good idea) to the ticket with your child’s name clearly printed and purpose (i.e. hot lunch or milk only). **If you’d like to pre-pay, you may do so through the WCS webpage or send in money (checks are not accepted) in their folder which will be sent to the kitchen. Again, mark with your child’s name and purpose. **If you misplace the tickets, you may send in a slip of paper with your child’s information. NO WORRIESJ Some other good lunchtime tips: · Encourage your child to practice opening containers and packages (thermos’, fruit snacks, etc.) on their own. · Practice cleaning up their spot after s/he is finished. (Placing garbage in the trash, wiping up spills with his/her napkin, etc.)
Important Information to Know! Arrival/Dismissal School begins at 8:52 am School ends at 3:59 pm Half Days end at 12:03 pm Kindergarten lunch is at 11:30 Bussers Students who take the bus will be escorted to and from the bus by 5th graders who volunteer for our Service Squad. Please contact me if you need any special arrangements or if you have any concerns! Walkers Students who are walkers will be dismissed one at a time by me from the classroom door that borders our playground. They will be released to an adult on their emergency/dismissal list only. ALL Parents are asked to wait outside for pick-up, rather than signing in and coming to the classroom. This is a must for safety and a smooth dismissal--thanks! *** PIN ROUTINE CHANGES TO THE FRONT OF YOUR CHILD'S SHIRT!**** If there is ever any change in your child's schedule, for example they are being picked up instead of riding the bus or someone else besides you is picking them up from school, we must have these changes in WRITING. Otherwise, we will stick to their normal go home routine. If a new person picks your child up, ID will be checked before your child will be released. (Please also remind them to wait outside for dismissal). Adult Visitors Every adult must sign in at the office when entering the building. A background check form must also be filled out for every adult who plans on participating in the classroom and school (i.e. center/media/field trips)! My suggestion is to fill one out ASAP so we can have it on hand. There is a link on our classroom webpage to print a copy. (A copy of your driver’s license is also required.) As the safety of our Cromie Kids is our #1 priority, we appreciate your help with this in advance! Money When sending money for any reason please put it in an envelope with your child’s full name on and what it is for. BE VERY SPECIFIC! Backpacks A backpack is needed for projects, notes and daily folders. This should be a large backpack big enough to hold a standard folder, lunchbox and some extras. Write your child's name on the outside of the bag and attach the transportation tag that was provided to you. Also, please check and clean out backpacks daily. Absences Whenever your child is absent from school, please notify the office AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Even if you write us a note in advance of a known absence, you must also call the office. We are concerned about each child’s safety and need to verify absences. The phone number to report absences at Cromie Elementary is 574-3160. Clothing Please dress your child in casual clothing and shoes that he/she can work and play in comfortably outside and in the room. We do projects nearly everyday and accidents do happen--we would not want to damage special clothes. It is also important that your child be dressed for the weather as we will go outside, weather permitting. Most notably, write your name on any clothing that can be taken off. This will help to make sure all items bet back to their rightful owner!! Using the Bathroom Please make sure your child knows how to use the bathroom independently. The children will learn how to use the bathrooms here at Cromie. Dress them in clothes that will enable them to use the bathroom without help. (Belts and buttons can be tricky so do a test run!) Special Schedule Your child will have many learning experiences here at Cromie Elementary. Certain days require certain necessities. Please help your child be prepared for each day. Monday- STEM Tuesday- Music Wednesday- Gym Thursday- Media Friday- Art The Daily Folder This is a very important tool that makes it a breeze to work together to make this year AMAZING for your young student! Your child has been given their daily folder. It may not sound like much, but it truly is our lifeline between home and school. As we are helping to establish a sense of responsibility, your student is expected to turn this folder in every single day. Many important notes and projects will always be coming home and this has worked to help families be aware and to simply know what’s going on. If you check this folder and return it EVERY DAY, you should be kept up to date on kindergarten and Cromie happenings. YUMMMMM! Snack time! Snack time allows the children to take a break from the challenging work of the day. While eating, children engage in open discussion that helps to build communication skills. Opening packages, trying new foods, and cleaning up all contribute to their school experience. Morning and Afternoon snack Each child is welcome to bring TWO snacks in each day. Be sure to help your child understand what their snack is (possibly keep it in a special compartment of their backpack) so they won’t eat it for lunch! This will be a quick bite in the morning, and then again in the afternoon to keep those bellies from growling. Snack should be a healthy option – NOT chips, cookies or candy. Unhealthy foods will be sent back home. Ideas for individual snacks are listed below. *I will provide a morning snack for the first week. Cheese cubes Crackers Fruit Snack Fruit Raisins Fruit or cereal bars Cereal Pretzels Cheese & crackers Water Bottles Please feel free to send a filled water bottle with your child each day. The bottle is to be clearly labeled with his/her name and filled prior to coming to school. THESE BOTTLES MUST HAVE A LID! A designated area will be provided so your child will have easy access to take a drink as needed. He/she will be responsible for their water bottle each day. If a bottle is forgotten, don't fret. A water fountain is close by and available for everyone's use. Nobody will go thirsty! Please also keep in mind that juice, soda, milk, etc. will not be allowed. Thank you! Birthdays Children are welcome to bring in a NON-FOOD item to share with the class on their birthday. These could be pencils for the class, a game for our recess collection, or a book to contribute to the library and can be dropped off at the front office anytime before 2:00. Cakes, balloons, gifts and parent visits on these days are not permitted. Classroom website If you go to Cromie’s website, you will see a list of links on the left side of the screen. Click Classroom Webpages, and then click on my name. This will bring you to our classroom webpage. Here you will find a copy of this note and other links that will help you. Periodically throughout the school year I will send home a note letting you know that new pictures from our class have been uploaded. You can save and print the pictures that you would like to keep. |
